Locations

Your shops, branches and depots. Locations are part of the platform, not a module, so every organisation has them regardless of what it licenses, and receipts, inventory and users all refer to them.

Open them at Settings → Business → Locations.

The list

On a desktop screen the list is a table with four columns: Location (the name, plus a Default badge on the default site), Address (the resolved address lines, or a dash), Logo (Yes or a dash) and Status (Active in green or Inactive in grey). On a phone the same rows are cards. Tap a row to open it.

When there is nothing yet the list says "No locations yet. Add your first shop, branch or depot." (or just "No locations yet." if you cannot create one).

Adding or editing a location

Press New Location, or open an existing one. The form has three cards, and the detail screen adds a fourth for branding.

"Location" card

Name
Required, up to 120 characters. Names are unique within the organisation; a duplicate is refused with a message naming the clash. The name is snapshotted onto receipts issued at the location and is what reports group by.

"Address" card

Nothing here is required. You can fill in the structured fields, or type the whole address as free text, and both are kept.

Full Address (Free Text)
Multiline, up to 1000 characters. While this is filled in it is the address: the structured fields below dim and are ignored. Each line you type becomes one printed line.
Street, City, State / Region, Zip / Postal Code, Country
Used when the free-text box is empty. Printing composes them as street, then city with region and postal code, then country. Limits: 200 characters for street, 100 for city, region and country, 20 for the postal code.

"Locale" card

"Both follow the organisation unless this site differs."

Time Zone
This site's operating day. The first row, Organisation Default — …, means inherit.
Currency
Receipts issued at this location are recorded in this currency. The hint is worth taking seriously: product prices stay organisation figures and are not converted, so only set this for a branch that genuinely prices in that currency.

"Branding" card (existing locations only)

This location's logo. A badge shows the stored size in pixels or None, with a preview. Upload Logo (or Replace Logo) accepts a PNG or JPEG up to 1 MB; Remove Logo clears it. The image is prepared for receipt rolls when you upload it, converted to black-and-white dots for both 58 mm and 80 mm paper, so simple, high-contrast artwork prints best.

Actions on a location

The action bar at the top of an existing location offers, from left to right:

Deactivate versus delete

DeactivateDelete
Reversible?Yes, with Activate.No.
Still listed?Yes, badged Inactive, still editable.No. It leaves every list.
Can be the default? No. Deactivating the default clears it.No. Deleting the default clears it.
ReceiptsNot offered on new receipts. Existing receipts keep the name and address they printed.Same.
InventoryTracking cannot be switched on at it. Existing stock records stay visible until you disable them.Stock records held at it are removed with it.
UsersStays on assigned users, shown with "(inactive)".Silently dropped from every user.

The default location

The default is explicit and optional. Nothing becomes the default by being created first, at most one location holds it, only an active location may hold it, and you can unset it so no location is the default. Notices confirm each change, for example "Main Street is now the default location." or "There is no default location now."
