Security (My Settings)
How you sign in: Face ID and fingerprint sign-in on this device, and every device set up for your account. Yours to change, no permission involved.
Open it at Settings → My Settings → Security. Not to be confused with Security under Administration, which sets how long everyone's sessions last.
The "Sign-In" card
Face ID and fingerprint sign-in is explained in full under Signing in. The card appears for everyone who has an email (a PIN-only account has no password for it to stand in for) and has two parts.
- This device
- In the installed app: one line on what this device can do, and one button. Turn On Face ID (or Turn On Touch ID, Turn On Fingerprint, Turn On Biometrics when the device has more than one method) when nobody is set up here. It needs a session opened with your email and password, and a connection; the card says so when either is missing. Turn Off Face ID when you are set up here, after a confirmation. Use Face ID For This Account when someone else (or you, in another organisation) set this device up: it replaces their set-up with yours. A device with no face or fingerprint recognition says so and offers nothing; a device that has it but with nothing enrolled asks you to set it up in the device's own settings first. In the web browser this part only explains that set-up happens in the installed app.
- Devices Set Up
- Every device set up for your account in this organisation: its name as it reported it (for example iPhone · iOS 17.5), when it was added, when it last signed in, and this device on the one you are holding. Remove stops that device signing in at once — from any sign-in, including the web and a device with no biometrics of its own, which is how a lost phone is dealt with. The list needs a connection. A device whose owner pressed Not You? on its sign-in screen stays listed until you remove it or it goes unused for 90 days; it cannot sign in either way, because the device no longer holds the key.
If your account signs in with a PIN
The page explains that Face ID and fingerprint sign-in stand in for a password, so they apply to accounts with an email and password. Your PIN is managed by an administrator under Users.
Your password
There is no password change in the app yet. If you have forgotten yours, ask your organisation's owner to contact Greyield Labs support, who can set a temporary password. A new password turns Face ID and fingerprint sign-in off on every device you had set up; sign in once with the new password and turn it on again here. See Current limitations.
