Current limitations
Things the platform does not do yet, stated plainly so nobody plans around a feature that is not there. This page is updated with every release.
Sign-in and accounts
- Face ID and fingerprint sign-in is for the installed app and for email-and-password accounts: not in the web browser, not for PIN-only accounts, and never without a connection. A device holds it for one person in one organisation at a time; a second person has to replace the first. An organisation cannot switch it off for its members.
- No "Forgot password" in the app. Password resets go through Greyield Labs support, who can assign a temporary password. Administrators can set a temporary password only when first enabling password sign-in for a person.
- No self-service registration. Organisations are created by Greyield Labs.
- No two-factor authentication for organisation users.
- Email & password sign-in needs a connection, and so does Face ID or fingerprint sign-in. PIN sign-in works offline only for people with Allow offline sign-in, on a device set up online first, and not in the web browser. A session already signed in keeps working offline for receipts.
- Offline sign-in changes reach a device only when it next connects. Removing someone, replacing their PIN or unticking the box does not affect a device that is offline at that moment.
- Verification emails are not sent, so Profile always shows "Not Verified". Nothing depends on it.
- Ownership cannot be transferred to another person.
- A session that ends for a reason other than the organisation's session policy (being deactivated or removed, a very long absence) returns you to the sign-in screen without a message.
- Session policies are per organisation, not per person or per role.
Receipts
- No tax, discounts or payment method on a receipt. The total equals the sum of the lines.
- No void, refund, credit note or edit of an issued receipt. Corrections are made with a new receipt. A receipt can be deleted (
Receipts.Delete), which removes it from lists and reports and is audited, but leaves its number used; there is no undo and no restore. - No date or amount filter on the Receipts list; its search is over the text printed on a receipt. Use the Receipts Register report for the receipts of a period.
- Fractional quantities stop at three decimal places (0.001 of a unit), the same precision as units worked out from an amount; a product's precision is 1, 2 or 3, and a line typed without a product allows all three.
- No reorder control for custom fields; they print in creation order.
- No tagline or TIN on receipts; the header is a label or logo and the footer is the footer note alone.
- No "email this receipt"; digital delivery is through the share sheet.
- Cash drawer and cutter commands are not sent; most 58 mm heads have no cutter.
- A queued item the server will never accept (for example a duplicated offline reference) stays listed under Needs Attention on that device; there is no way to remove it from the device, and support has to resolve it.
- Receipt rolls print from Android devices only, over any of the three routes. iOS and the web offer the Full Page format and the share sheet; there is no Bluetooth printing on iOS.
- Bluetooth printing talks to printers that are already paired. Pairing happens in Android's Bluetooth settings (Pair a New Printer opens them); there is no scanning or pairing inside the app, Bluetooth Low Energy printers are not supported, and over Bluetooth the app cannot see paper out or a jam: a receipt counts as sent once the printer has accepted it.
- Vendor Print Service knows two printer services so far, both verified on a device: IPosPrinterService (the terminals sold as Q1, Q2 and Q2i) and recieptservice (the terminals sold as H10 and H10S). Other terminals print over Bluetooth where they expose their printer that way, or through the print dialog, until their own service is added. Bluetooth printing has been verified with a terminal's own printer; an external Bluetooth printer has not yet been tried on hardware.
- After an "Update Required" screen, queued items need a manual retry. If a device tries to sync while the app version is no longer accepted, its queued receipts and prints move to Needs Attention. Nothing is lost: once the app is updated, open Sync and press Retry on each item.
- Receipt rolls print accented letters as "?" (for example in a customer or product name). Full Page and the share sheet print them correctly.
- Type prices with a dot as the decimal point, never a comma. A comma is read as a thousands separator, so "3,50" means 350.
Customers and Products
- Customers have no active/inactive state, only delete.
- The customer page lists receipts but no totals (spend, average, last purchase); use Sales by Customer. Related Records shows the ten most recent; the Receipts Register lists them all.
- Field length and email format on the customer form are checked only when saving, with a generic message.
- SKUs are never reusable, including after deletion.
- No per-location pricing. A location's own currency does not convert prices, and the receipt screen enters and shows amounts with the organisation's currency's decimal places even when the receipt is labelled with the location's currency. Give a location its own currency only if it prices in it and both currencies use the same number of decimal places.
- Fractional quantities do not touch stock. Receipts do not adjust Inventory in this release, and stock quantities are whole numbers, so a line's 2.5 gal, or the units worked out from an amount, stay on the receipt and in Sales by Product.
Inventory
- Receipts do not reduce stock. Every movement is a manual adjustment.
- Only products can be tracked.
- No low-stock threshold or alerts; Out of Stock (zero) is the only report of that kind.
- No transfers between locations as a single action, no cost or valuation, no batches or expiry.
- Switching tracking off has no confirmation. The record and its history are kept and can be restored.
- "Mine" for inventory means records you switched on, not records you adjusted.
Reporting
- Emailed exports depend on a mail provider being connected for your deployment. Until then they are recorded but not delivered.
- Android and iOS cannot download files; email is the export route there.
- The on-screen preview shows 500 rows (50 on a phone); exports are complete.
- Sales by Customer groups every unattached receipt as one "Unknown Customer" row, regardless of typed names.
- Sales by Location groups by the name printed, so renaming a location starts a new group.
Settings and administration
- The audit log is not viewable in the app. Every action is recorded — creates, edits and deletions with before/after values, sign-ins and failed sign-in attempts (never the password or PIN), sign-outs, every print and reprint, password resets — with the person who did it, but there is no screen for it in the app yet. Greyield Labs support can review an organisation's trail from the operator console on request.
- Licensed modules and billing are not shown in the app.
- The Organisation page is owner-only; granting
Tenant.Editto a role does not reveal it. - Some permissions are reserved and do nothing yet:
Receipts.Export,Tenant.View,Subscription.View,Subscription.Manage,Audit.Export,Configuration.View,Configuration.Edit.Audit.Viewreads the organisation's audit log through the API only. - The Tenant ID cannot be changed in the app.
- Customers, products and locations cannot be created offline.
